That is because the gold metal is alloyed with other metals to make is strong enough to work with. Yellow gold is created when it is mixed with copper and silver and if the silver is left out you then end up with pink gold. Green gold contains copper, silver, and zinc and white gold is created by mixing it with palladium and platinum.
